Guest Speaker Bio: 

Samantha “Sam” Hightower M.Ed., BCBA has been in the field for 10 years and has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2019. In 2013, Sam was fortunate to find a position providing direct Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children, ages 2-12, and their parents/caregivers for home, school, and center-based services. Her passion for the field continued to grow as she worked her way to a Program Director position where she gained experience supervising behavior technicians, treatment planning, report writing, and developing behavior intervention plans. Through her work, Sam enjoys helping clients achieve independence, develop new skills, effectively communicate, and provide support to parents. Sam loves to dive into research and apply it to everyday life. Her favorite skills to teach are sleep behavior, social skills, and executive functioning skills.

Maryssa McKenzie, M.S., BCBA has worked in the field since 2014, starting out in the school districts, in-home, and center based locations. She traveled with the Global Autism Project in 2017 to Nicaragua with the SkillsCorps team to get international experience, and then she volunteered in 2019 with a center in Guatemala. Maryssa is passionate about working with children and ultimately loves facilitating social groups and working through effective behavior management interventions
